Widgets

A Widget is a self-contained area of a web page that performs a specific function, or the code that generates such a self-contained area. Expressions has a built-in widget that displays a list of pages in your blog’s sidebar, and it has another built-in widget that displays a list of recent comments in the Dashboard. Plugins and themes can provide additional widgets.

Your Expressions site comes with a set of Widgets, some of which are activated on your site by default. Certain themes and plugins come with widgets, so as you change your theme and install plugins on your site, you may notice that you have new widgets. The number of widget areas you have available to you also depends on the themes and plugins that you have activated.

  1. To customize the widgets on your site, go to Appearance > Widgets.
  2. Click and drag any widget to a widget area in order to activate it.
  3. Once a widget is listed within a widget area, you can click on the drop-down arrow next to the widget name in order to customize it.
  4. If you do not want a widget on your site, simply click and drag it out of a widget area.
